Until now the trains are not as frequent as the buses and costs double as much as the buses (tourists have to pay more than the locals).

Please keep the payment receipt (the fee is often indicated on the plane ticket = payment proof) in order to avoid the risk of double payment of the fee when you leave Mexico (popular scam from the border officials).

(1) Chicken Bus Belize City to Benque Viejo del Carmen / border Belize in around 2 – 3 hours for 10 USD then 3 km to the border of Guatemala. Afterwards you can take a minibus from the border Guatemala / Melchor de Mencos to Flores in around 2 – 3 hours for around 8 USD.
