- Chicken Bus: it is the cheapest travel option in Central America. Mostly they are old American school buses. In some big cities e. g. Guatemala City they warn you to take the chicken bus due to safety reasons. However it is not dangerous to take it in most cities especially in smaller towns. Just be alert on your luggage and valuable items.
- trains: there are no train connections in Central America except some few routes in Costa Rica
- bus station: Unfortunately there are no central bus stations in Central America in big cities / capitals because every bus company has its own bus station. The only exemption is Panama City with the central bus station Albrook.
- Guatemala city to Antigua: you can take the chicken bus for less than 2 USD however it is a little bit risky therefore there are many tourist shuttles which charge between 15 – 20 USD (also directly to the airport).
Entry / Exit fees:

- Nicaragua: 14 USD entrance and 2 USD exit fee
- Costa Rica: 10 USD exit fee
